Springtime in the desert was my absolute favorite time to hike a dusty desert trail. The dry air would be filled with floral aroma from the abundance of blooming cactus and wildflowers. If you happen to be in the right place at the right time, you may stumble upon a cluster of blooming hedgehog cactus, with bright scarlet red blooms. The vibrancy of these flowers is a treat! This painting was inspired by a hike around Watson Lake in Prescott, AZ where I spotted some particularly large and beautiful clusters of these Cactus.
