A desert hummingbird with iridescent green feathers visits a cluster of bright scarlet Ocotillo flowers in full bloom. Most of the year, the Ocotillo plant looks like a barren, spiky cluster of branches growing in clusters from the ground. In the springtime, tiny green leaves grow between rows of spikes and they create lovely smelling flowers. These flowers are completely edible and are popular for making sun tea!
